Ideally Suited For

Technical

  • Batelco GMPLS Layer 2 utilizes the Global network based on IP/MPLS protocol. The connectivity through this network is Point–to–Point.
  • A dedicated CPE router is required at each location to be provided by the customer or Batelco (optional).
  • Batelco built its GMPLS network to the highest industry standards with built in redundancy for key elements.
  • Batelco GMPLS network supports QnQ (IEEE 802.1Q)
  • Batelco GMPLS network supports Jumbo frame (MTU Size of 9,000 bytes payload)


Layer 2 Ethernet Connectivity

Ethernet Private Line (EPL)

The service provides a dedicated secure private bandwidth and guaranteed throughput across a point-to-point Ethernet Virtual connection that transmits simultaneous two-way traffic. The EPL is analogous to a “circuit-like” service such as a T1/E1 service which is permanently reserved and dedicated for an enterprise customer. EPL is implemented using point-to-point VC with no service multiplexing nor sharing where a dedicated port is assigned for the customer.

Features of the EPL include:

  • Dedicated point to point bandwidth
  • Transparent LAN service, connected Ethernets are viewed as one Ethernet by the customer, regardless of the technology employed by the carrier in between
  • No VLANs involved
  • No service multiplexing

EPL Connectivity

Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL)

EVPL provides an Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC) between multiple customer locations, and is an ideal replacement for frame relay or ATM services. This service also supports Service Multiplexed User Network Interfaces (UNI), which enables a single physical connection to Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) for multiple virtual connections.
