Batelco Holds Enterprise Risk Management Workshop
**Supporting Batelco’s Risk Management Efforts**
Batelco, Bahrain’s leading Communications Solutions Company recently held an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Workshop at their Hamala Headquarters with the aim to keep their staff up to date with recent trends and best practices in the Risk Management field.
Batelco’s Risk Management Team joined hands with representatives from KeyPoint, one of the G.C.C’s most comprehensive professional business services providers, to deliver the workshop in order to raise awareness about the essential concepts of ERM as well as familiarise the participants with the newly implemented international standards of Risk Management that Batelco is adopting, ISO 31000.
Among the topics covered over the course of the one-day workshop were the common risks faced by the telecom industry, the framework used worldwide when implementing ERM in a company and the overall contribution that ERM makes to a company’s operations. The focal point was the principle of implementing globally-recognized risk management standards in Batelco to aid in the company’s local and International operations.
Batelco Bahrain General Manager Human Resources & Corporate Services Suhaila Alnowakhda who gave the opening speech at the workshop emphasized the importance of Risk Management and fostering a risk management culture at Batelco.
“Batelco recognises the importance and benefits of practicing risk management, especially in an industry as volatile and competitive as is found in the local market. Accordingly, Batelco considers Risk Management a strategic key to be practiced as part of the decision making process across the entire organization. It is an ongoing process by which we strive for continual improvement,” noted Mrs. Alnowakhda.
