Batelco Supports Safe Bicycle Riding Campaign
General Directorate of Traffic Rethink Campaign Raising Road Safety Awareness
Batelco, as part of its efforts to support all segments of the community was delighted to join hands with the General Directorate of Traffic to distribute safety helmets to hundreds of residents who ride bicycles on Bahrain’s busy streets. The initiative, which is part of the Directorate’s Rethink Campaign, was designed to raise awareness about the importance of bicycle riding safety.
The recent campaign included distribution of hundreds of helmets and awareness publications aimed at encouraging cyclist to follow traffic rules and keep safe on the roads. The helmets were handed out all over Bahrain near to schools and in areas with large populations of expatriate labourers.
Batelco Bahrain CEO Eng. Muna Al Hashemi said that Batelco always aims to keep all segments of the community in mind as part of the Company’s CSR programme.
“The General Directorate of Traffic in line with their Rethink Campaign is doing a great job in educating the general community with regard to the rules of the road and measures to stay safe while driving a car or motorcycle or riding a bicycle,” she said.
Batelco Consumer Division General Manager Ebrahim Alsayed said that Batelco was very pleased to cooperate with the General Directorate of Traffic to support this very worthwhile programme.
“The Helmet Campaign aims to keep cyclist safe on the roads of Bahrain. The campaign proved to be very popular and successful by helping cyclists who are obliged by law to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle,” he added.
