Batelco Hosts Students and Professors from the University of Bahrain

Batelco, the leading digital solutions provider in the Kingdom, hosted a group of students and professors from the University of Bahrain (UOB) as part of its Eyalna programme aimed at empowering young people and supporting the educational sector in the Kingdom. The visiting team was given the opportunity to gain first-hand experience and an inside look into the internal operations of the Kingdom’s largest telecom operator.

The visit took place recently at Batelco’s Hamala headquarters and was organized by the Graduation Projects Committee at the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at UOB. The participants included a number of faculty members along with a group of students from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department.

The visitors were given a tour of the main facilities at Hamala’s headquarters, including the staff centre building, the operations and maintenance department and the training centre. Additionally, they were given a tour of the Batelco Call Centre 196 where they were briefed on the work flow in the Centre.

Also included in the visit was a briefing in the Network Development Department on the latest developments in the field of technology and two lectures, one on electricity generation in Batelco and the other on the terrestrial structure of communications. Additionally, the visitors met with a number of Bahraini engineers who graduated from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at UOB.

At the end of the visit, the President of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Dr. Khalid Zahar and all accompanying faculty members expressed their deep thanks for the hospitality and praised the high level of preparation and coordination for the field visit, thanks to the efforts of the various Batelco teams.

The visitors also expressed their pleasure with the visit, which comes within the framework of further cooperation between the public sector such as the University of Bahrain and the private sector such as Batelco, to create employment opportunities for students in general and particularly students of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering faculty at UOB.
