Creating Future Leaders

Batelco recently announced the commencement of its Graduate Trainee programme for 2019, which aims to prepare the Kingdom’s business leaders of the future. The programme was launched in collaboration with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), that has been the strategic partner of the programme since in its inception in 2014, and aims to introduce graduates to the telecommunications sector. Of all the graduates who have taken part, Batelco has employed 48 of the 72 who received training, with the others receiving employment with other telecommunications providers.

The company will provide an integrated graduate training plan based on the development of core business skills such as communication, planning, creativity and teamwork. The programme will also encompass the technical skills required by the various departments at Batelco, as well as leadership skills – all of which contribute to the development of the future generations. The Company will be carrying out the programme in close cooperation with both local and international educational institutions, in order to provide graduates with the highest quality of programmes.

Batelco Chief Human Resources Officer Faisal Al Jalahma expressed the importance of this programme to the company, noting that Batelco holds the highest rate of Bahrainization amongst other private companies in Bahrain.

“We take it as our role to invest in the youth of Bahrain to prepare talented future leaders to serve the nation in various domains and specifically in the telecom sector,” said Mr. Al Jalahma.

“The graduates will benefit by having the opportunity to gain hands on experience with a leading organisation, boosting their career prospects enormously. Practical experience will complement the knowledge that they have gained from their academic studies and will better their employment chances in Batelco and in the industry in general. We wish all graduate trainees the best of luck in the year ahead,” Mr. Al Jalahma added.

Batelco’s Head of Learning & Development, Sumaya Adel, also stressed on the importance of empowering young people and investing in their development through comprehensive programmes that are essential for providing them with the necessary skills needed for the work environment.

Continually striving to support the development of Bahraini youth, the graduate training programme highlights Batelco’s keenness and commitment to the progression of the nation and its dedication to supporting Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.
