Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs (GOYS) organized the Futsal League, under the guidance of His Excellency Mr. Hisham bin Mohammed Al Jowder, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.
An awards ceremony took place on September 5th at the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation hall during which HH Shaikh Khalid congratulated the winning teams and presented appreciation awards to organisations that supported the month long programme. In recognition of Batelco’s commitment to the success of the event HH Shaikh Khalid presented the Company with an award which was received by Batelco Senior Manager Marketing and Communications Abdulla Abuidrees.
Batelco Bahrain Chief Executive, Eng. Muna Al Hashemi said that Batelco was proud to sponsor the 4th Khalid Bin Hamad Youth Centres Futsal League and the 1st Khalid bin Hamad People with Disabilities Futsal League.
“The event, which was held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, reflects His Highness’s aspirations to develop the sports and youth sectors. HH Shaikh Khalid is a key supporter for youths and sports and the effective participation by the youth centres came in response to this initiative by HH.”
“The addition of a League for People with Disabilities was an important step for the League organization,” noted Mrs. Al Hashemi.
“The improvement we have seen at all levels; especially with the addition of people with disabilities, has embodied the qualitative phase the league has entered. This is because the entrance of the disabled has explored several talents enjoyed by this sector similar to those enjoyed by other regular players in the youth centres,” she elaborated.
Mrs. Al Hashemi noted that the attendance of HH in the final match was an honour and a joyful ending to the league that witnessed significant participation by all.
Batelco annually supports a wide range of educational and youth programmes as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts.
