Batelco’s Sponsorship part of its Commitment to Youth and Sports

Batelco, as part of its commitment to Sports and Youth events is delighted to be the Telecom Sponsor for the Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship 2016, organised by Bahrain Triathlon Association which will take place from 8th to 10th December. The much hyped event will take place under the patronage of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, reflecting the unwavering support of the leadership to the field of sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Ironman triathlon which comprises of a 1.9km swim taking place in Bahrain Bay will be followed by participants cycling 90km, via historical and cultural landmarks before reaching the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC). The final leg, a 21km run, will take the participants on a scenic route in the Al Areen area before finishing back at the BIC.

The Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship is taking place for the second year in Bahrain following the huge success of last year’s event. Adding to the occasion this year will be special additional events, IRONKids and IRONGirl, with both events being held on the first day of the championship at the BIC.

Batelco Corporate Affairs Senior Manager Osama Alsaad said that Batelco was delighted to link its name with such a high calibre event that attracted over 1000 athletes in 2015, with 2000 expected this year.

“Batelco is very well known for its support of sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain and has sponsored football, tennis, golf, horse racing, bowling and karting over the years. Contributing to events that have a positive impact on all sectors of the community and all ages, but particularly youths, is high on Batelco’s CSR agenda,” he said.
