In Collaboration with Batelco as Consulting Partner for AWS, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company Successfully Migrates In-House Datacenter to AWS

June 14, 2021

Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company has migrated all applications hosted at its in-house Datacenter to AWS (Amazon Web Services), leveraging on the benefits offered by AWS Marketplace.

AWS Marketplace is a curated digital catalogue that customers can use to find, buy, deploy, and manage third-party software, data, and services that customers need to build solutions and run their businesses.

The migration comes as part of the AWS Migration journey, initiated by Bahrain’s iGA (Information and eGovernment Authority), and in collaboration with Batelco as an AWS consulting Partner.

CHALLENGE

Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company needed to transform its technology architecture as its on-premises infrastructure faced integration constraints which were difficult and costly to upgrade. Additionally, the absence of analytics and dashboards were impacting the Company’s daily operations.

SOLUTION

Leveraging on the AWS Marketplace portfolio, in collaboration with Batelco, Mumtalakat selected Infor ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems as the best solution to address the challenges. Infor is a global leader in business cloud software products for companies in industry specific markets. Infor builds complete industry suites in the cloud and efficiently deploys technology that puts the user experience first, leverages data science, and integrates easily into existing systems.

RESULTS

The successful migration ensured that Mumtalakat achieved its goals and objectives in four key areas:-

  • Alignment to Business Strategy– including enabling a consolidated view of its portfolio companies, and access to real time analytics and dashboards
  • Optimization of Business Processes- including fulfilling procurement and talent management requirements and enabling Mumtalakat to adapt processes based on industry best practice
  • Cost Optimization- including the implementation of an enhanced Opex vs Capex payment structure and a Pay for Use SaaS (Software as a Service) model, which entails paying a small subscription fee on a per usage basis.
  • Support & Maintenance- allowing Mumtalakat to offload maintenance from their IT team and being able to take advantage of regular updates and new features.

Batelco’s collaboration with AWS has grown rapidly since early 2017, enabling Batelco to offer the most in-demand services such as solutions for Cloud, Digital, ICT and Telecom needs to its partners and customers.
