Batelco ISO 27001:2013 Certifications in Information Security Renewed Successfully
Batelco, Bahrain’s leading digital communications solutions operator has renewed its ISO Certificates in Information Security (ISO 27001:2013), following a thorough and vigorous auditing process conducted by Bureau Veritas. The Certifications were renewed with broader scope for the following units:
- IT Unit, including Development, Support, Operations, IT Security and Datacentres
- Customer Services, including Retail Operations and Wholesale operations.
A number of Batelco teams, headed by the Information Security department, worked together to complete the comprehensive process to meet all standard requirements which was verified by the Bureau Veritas auditing team.
As a record, Batelco has upgraded its existing Information Security Certifications from ISO 27001:2005 to ISO 27001:2013 through a transition audit performed in 2015.
Being a certified organisation, Batelco applies international security standards in protecting the data of its customers and staff as part of its integrated Risk Management programme within the organisation’s strategic plan.
Renewal of certifications with broader scope proves Batelco’s due diligence in protecting and securing corporate confidential data and supports the Company’s efforts for compliance with national and international laws and regulations. Additionally the certifications demonstrate Batelco’s credibility and trust and show its commitment to information security at all levels throughout the organization.
Batelco Bahrain General Manager Human Resources & Corporate Services Suhaila Alnowakhda presented the achieved certifications to the managers of the certified areas. The Chief Executive of Bureau Veritas Bahrain, Zulfiqar Haider, was in attendance at the event which was attended by a number of Batelco’s staffs who were involved in applying the ISO standards within the various units.
Mrs. Alnowakhda said that renewing the ISO27001:2013 certifications confirm that Batelco takes information security seriously.
“Our customers deserve full care and provision of complete security for their data. We are committed to our customers’ data confidentiality in all our operations,” she said.
Mr. Zulfiqar said that the achievement made by Batelco through meeting ISO27001:2013 standards reflects the serious commitment of Batelco’s senior management and the continued efforts by the company’s teams aiming to achieve this goal.
“This success wouldn’t have been possible without the senior managements’ commitment. This means Batelco’s interest was not confined to dealing with customers’ data with high confidentiality, but also to ensure – via an independent body – that its approach in dealing with customers’ information is in line with the international standards,” he added.
